Front yard fun!

We have a very large yard and so when I grabbed the camera, the baby looked so far away.  He wasn't too sure he liked me walking away from him but look at that cutie enjoying being outside and chewing on leaves and sticks.

The weather was hot and humid and after just ten minutes outside, we were both sweating and hot.  We hope that the fall comes soon so that we can enjoy more outside time.  The mosquitoes have stopped being so aggressive and haven't chased us into the house.  We love our awesome front yard!

When there is silence...there is trouble

The other day I was very surprised that the baby was enjoying his exersaucer so much.  Usually he will play in it for about five minutes before he starts whining and yelling because he wants to get out.  After about fifteen minutes or so I realized that he was very quiet.  If you look on the ground under his exersaucer you will notice pieces of leaves.  Yep, he found the plant and decided it needed a trimming.

Look at how cute that plant trimmer is?  He was happy when he realized I was taking his picture.

Watermelon fun

Check out that large pile of rubber bands in front of those watermelons.  On the 4th of July we had our annual waterslide and then we gathered for a fun contest.  We had four different teams and they took rubber bands and put them around the middle of the watermelon and the winner of the contest was the watermelon that split/burst open first.

Watermelon will stain and so a few garbage bags were worn by those that didn't want watermelon stains on their clothes.

Here's our first team...the grown up ladies.

Our second team was the grown up men!

The third team was the young boys.

And our final team was the young girls.

Those boys used a lot of teamwork to get their rubber bands on the middle of that watermelon.  I loved walking around and listening to all the teams talk to their teammates and the other teams as they rapidly put rubber bands on their watermelon.

Only a few of us didn't participate but we all had good reasons...except for that cute girl on the air mattress!

And the winner was the young boys!  What a surprise for everyone!  The top flew off and hit one of the nephews in the stomach.  He wasn't hurt, just surprised and had a great story to tell for the rest of the day.

It was a fun game to play and then later we made watermelon sorbet out of the watermelon.

Family Reunion last June

Cute family photo at the family reunion.  The baby was five months old exactly on this day.  My favorite part of the reunion this year was the 5K and fun run/walk at the beginning of the day.  Thanks to my sister-in-laws that let me run with them...especially since I slowed them down when I got a few side-aches.

My family is so awesome and cute!  Check out these fun couples!

My fun nephew was jumping into the back of a lot of photos...I think it's called "photo bombing" and I laugh when I notice him in the background of my photos.

I had to show off the baby in this fun photo!

Grandpa took a quick catnap during the talking part of the reunion.

And here is baby R, the cousin closest in age to my baby.  I know that when they get a little older, they are going to have so much fun together.

Six months old and showing my chubbiness off

Six months old and so HAPPY!

This little boy has so much personality.  I loved putting him in a hat to add some charm to these photos.

Spending time with extended family

This summer we had a great time visiting with family and letting them play with baby L and get to know his little personality.

Some of baby L's cousins are...crazy cute!

And of course we had to spend some time with Grandma!

Have you ever heard the story of Rose Red and Snow White?  These two sisters remind me a little bit of that fairy tale.

Baby L has a photo shoot...sort of

I didn't take any of those popular newborn pictures of baby L when he was a newborn.  Part of the reason was that I just felt terrible...you know, hormones, lack of sleep, healing, anxiety, etc. AND my baby was super collicky and so I wasn't going to disturb him after he had fallen asleep.  So, L gets his pictures when he is older.  Here's when he was five months.  I took them in my in-laws backyard one evening.  I think they are super cute!

L likes to be outside on the grass.  He didn't mind laying in it at the time of the photos. Now that he is older, he just sits up in the grass.

I can't believe how fast this little boy is growing up.  He doesn't even look like this to me anymore.  I guess that means I'll have to pull out the camera and try to get some more cute photos of him.
