Flowers

Spring is starting to show itself and I am so excited to be here in Virginia to find it. I love how everything out here blooms in the Spring. I've begun taking my camera with me as I go for my walks, and luckily my walking buddies are okay with me stopping to pull out the camera to take a shot here or there. Enjoy the flowers...I really do.

A new painting

I spent all day yesterday painting. That wasn't the plan. I really thought I'd get other stuff accomplished, but I sat down and started painting and the time flew by. I really wanted to finish the painting and I did, a little after five pm, and then it was time to start dinner. Phew! I'm always amazed at how hours can sneak past sometimes and at other times it just seems to crawl.
Well, enjoy the painting...I really do!

I love all my hobbies

I finished another baby quilt. I really like the monkey faces on this quilt.

Sister Mary Margaret

I was looking through my pictures from this last Christmas and had to post this picture. What a great day!! I really don't think my SIL will continue wearing her new skirt on her head...but if you know her...you never know.

I've been tagged

I've been tagged and I feel embarrassed about the book I just finished. I've heard so many different views from family and friends about the book (or at least the series) but I finally read it and I don't think I have the same view as anyone.

Okay here's the rules to the tag:
1. Pick up the nearest book (of at least 123 pages).
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next five sentences.
5. Tag five people.

The book is ...well...I don't know if I'll tell you the title. Maybe you can guess the book if you've read it.

The 5th sentence and the next five sentences are:
Jacob wasn't smiling. His dark eyes were critical of my reaction. "It's a little bit more powerful than that. More absolute."

"Sorry," I muttered. "You're serious, aren't you?"

(and now I'm adding a few more sentences because I can)

"Yeah, I am."

"Love at first sight? But more powerful?" My voice still sounded dubious, and he could hear that.

Okay, who shall I pick to tag?
1. Chelsi
2. Mindy
3. Andrea
4. Laura
5. Tiffani

Have fun with this!! I did...and did anyone guess the book? (except you my walking partner...you know what book it is since it's yours).

Sushi

Last Saturday I learned how to make sushi...and so all week I've been waiting for my avocado to ripen so that I could make my own sushi. And this afternoon I made sushi for lunch. And it turned out well. And very yummy!

I put in the sushi, avocado, cucumbers and fake crab meat!

Pinewood Derby

For the last two weeks, SM has been coming home from work and working on his Pinewood Derby car. Before he could actually start anything on the car though, we had to go buy him a large pocket knife. And later he found out how sharp the pocket knife really is...actually he found it out three times and by the last time, he'd taken to wearing gloves while carving, so that just in case the blade closed down on his fingers, he wouldn't get cut (which is what had happend the two earlier times) and the third cut was actually through the gloves but not as bad as the first two, because it was through the gloves. (Was that a long sentence or what?)

After all the carving came the sanding and then the painting of the car. I was very impressed how detail oriented SM really is. When we have children I hope they get both of our artistic talent, that would be cool.

What a beautiful car! Now, can it race? (Oh, and the picture doesn't show it but SM painted yellow lightening bolts on the side and front). During the racing the car did okay. It didn't take first or second but it also didn't end up so slow that it didn't make it to the end of the course (like the Bishops' car).

And here is when he put it in the open challenge...notice there is another car glued to the top...it actually did very well with the extra weight. SM had a great time at the Pinewood Derby. I had fun talking to all my friends and looking at the cars that were made.
