New Hair Cut

I got my hair cut on Thursday evening from a lady in my ward. I love it! And SM loves it! I still forget what I look like and when I walk past a mirror, I usually stop to take a look at myself.

Another thing I noted with this new hair cut is that it is dramatic enough that guys also notice. For example, Saturday morning, SM and I attended a choir practice for our Easter program. One of the older men in the ward kept staring at me and by the end of the two hour practice he asked me if I had cut my hair. Everybody laughed when I said that I had.

At church yesterday, I had lots of people compliment the hair cut. It was almost embarrassing how much attention is given to this hair cut. But I have to say I like that now I have a neck and chin. For some reason, that's what I notice with this hair cut.

Another Fairy

I painted another fairy this week. I think I have a theme going here...and that's okay because I really like fairies. My favorite part about this fairy is her wings. They are awesome.

Blooming Tree

The tree outside my third story dining room window is blooming. And it is lovely.
And I've been taking many pictures each day. It's just that is changes so much in one day that the next day shows me a new side to the tree. Plus I know that this tree blooms quickly and then the flowers disapper and the leaves come out.

New Painting

I painted this koala bear this week. It didn't turn out very well because I didn't get his eyes or nose right. I think this will be a picture that is put away and not pulled out to show off to others. But I'm posting it to show that everything doesn't always come out perfectly, and that's okay...because it gives me room to grow and progress. And life is about growing and progressing and being a little better each day. Better than you were the day before.

St. Paddy's Dinner

Laura and Peter invited us over Sunday evening for a celebration dinner...a St. Patrick's Dinner with traditional Irish food. Doesn't that look delicious? We had spring potatoes, corned beef with a horseradish sauce, cabbage and homemade bread. We also had red grapes and crackers and cheese for an appetizer. Everything was delicious!!

This is Laura and Peter...Laura is getting the chocolate cupcakes out of their tins. Later she put a light green mint frosting with crumbled Andes mints on top...yum!

If you look to the right of SM's head, you'll see a white teared ceramic "thing." What it really is, is a cupcake display "thing." (I have to apologize...I can't seem to produce the correct vocabulary this morning and so I'm using "thing" to say what I mean...please use your own words to make this paragraph make sense for you). Anyway, the cupcake holder is beautiful and with those beautiful cupcakes, we felt very special.

Baby Quilt

So, I also finished another baby quilt this week. (Phew! I actually did a lot of projects this week!) I think one of the reasons for this push for finishing projects is that we are having our Relief Society birthday this month and the theme is something that has to do with our talents...and we get to show them off to everyone...).

I really like the green and pink colors together!

Finished Levi Quilt

Back in September I finished the top of this Levi Quilt. It was a lot of work but turned out so beautiful. And then I folded it up and put it in the spare bedroom and that was the end of that. But in the back of my head I felt this project nagging to be finished. But I also didn't have a plan on how I'd do that. I thought I needed quilting frames and space to actually tie the quilt. I started asking people in my ward if they had quilting frames...and no one did. But I spoke to one quilter who told me that she has a large enough kitchen that she tapes the corners of the quilt to her floor and then safety pins the whole quilt and then ties the quilt. And so I did something similar. My front room/living room wasn't quite big enough but I made it work. I found a flannel sheet set for our bed in my linen closet that I knew we wouldn't use since SM would be way too hot at night if he had to sleep in flannel, and I cut the sheets (the backing needed to be larger than the actual sheets were) and sewed them together. And then I stretched everything out, and started safety pinning every square. My poor fingers were really tender by the time I finished pinning. And then I tied the quilt while sitting on the floor. It actually turned out great but my poor fingers were really tender after trying to pull yarn through Levi material. But I absolutely love how it turned out and SM really likes it also. Hurray for finishing a started project!!!!!!!
