Back in September I finished the top of this Levi Quilt. It was a lot of work but turned out so beautiful. And then I folded it up and put it in the spare bedroom and that was the end of that. But in the back of my head I felt this project nagging to be finished. But I also didn't have a plan on how I'd do that. I thought I needed quilting frames and space to actually tie the quilt. I started asking people in my ward if they had quilting frames...and no one did. But I spoke to one quilter who told me that she has a large enough kitchen that she tapes the corners of the quilt to her floor and then safety pins the whole quilt and then ties the quilt. And so I did something similar. My front room/living room wasn't quite big enough but I made it work. I found a flannel sheet set for our bed in my linen closet that I knew we wouldn't use since SM would be way too hot at night if he had to sleep in flannel, and I cut the sheets (the backing needed to be larger than the actual sheets were) and sewed them together. And then I stretched everything out, and started safety pinning every square. My poor fingers were really tender by the time I finished pinning. And then I tied the quilt while sitting on the floor. It actually turned out great but my poor fingers were really tender after trying to pull yarn through Levi material. But I absolutely love how it turned out and SM really likes it also. Hurray for finishing a started project!!!!!!!

That looks great! I've always wanted a levi quilt. Guess I better get busy...now I know how to do it without a frame. I remember cutting out squares when we made my mom's quilt - that made my hands so sore!
It's beautiful; and, as always, you're amazing! I have a very big levi quilt, but I want to make a smaller one that I can use for quick trips to the park or small picnics--I just need to cut out more squares. Great job!
